CHOREOGRAPHER DANCER

Ciao a tutti! My name is Mary Moretti. I am a New York-based dance teacher, choreographer, and dancer with over 20 years of experience. My journey began in Puglia, Italy, where modern and jazz dance shaped my technique. Meanwhile, a Missy Elliott music video captured my heart and inspired me to explore my artistry in street-style dance. This led me to specialize in hip-hop and street jazz. When my passion turned into my career, I learned how to master dancing in heels.

Since moving to New York, I have worked as a professional choreographer and dancer, as well as a dance instructor at SassClass NYC and the Mark Morris Dance Center.

COMMON DANCE FAQ!

  • If you’re new to dance, my classes are a great place to start! Each session includes a foundation portion before moving into choreography, ensuring you feel comfortable with the basics first.

If learning choreography feels overwhelming, no worries! I recommend starting with a total foundation class, where you can focus purely on mastering the basics without the pressure of choreography.

I am here to support your journey at your own pace

    • Hip-Hop: Grounded, rhythmic, and freestyle-driven with roots in street culture. Think raw energy and groovy moves like popping, locking, and breaking. Perfect for expressing urban vibes.

    • Street Jazz: A fusion of jazz technique and hip-hop flair. Sharp lines, isolations, and dynamic choreography ideal for polished performances like music videos.

    • Heels: A bold and sensual style danced in high heels. Focused on confidence, femininity, and precision with movements like struts, hair flips, and floor work. Inspired by stars like Beyoncé.tion text goes here

  • Not at all! Our classes and workshops are beginner-friendly and designed for all skill levels. Whether you're a complete new to dance or have some dance background, we’ll guide you step-by-step to build confidence, have fun, and enjoy the journey.

  • It’s completely normal to feel nervous when starting something new! My classes are designed to be welcoming, supportive, and judgment-free. You’ll be surrounded by encouraging people, and we’ll help you build confidence step by step. Remember: Dance is all about having fun and expressing yourself!

    • Hip-Hop: If you love high-energy, freestyle movement, and grooving to urban beats, this is your vibe.

    • Street Jazz: Want a mix of sharp technique and expressive choreography? Perfect for performers or music video enthusiasts.

    • Heels: If you're looking to embrace confidence, sensuality, and bold moves, this style is for you—heels optional for beginners!

Still unsure? Try a class in each style to find what resonates with you.

  • Wear something comfortable that allows you to move freely! For Hip-Hop and Street Jazz, sneakers and activewear work best. For Heels, bring sturdy, comfortable heels (optional for beginners) and form-fitting clothing to help you feel confident.

Don’t forget to bring a towel and an extra change of clothes in case your outfit isn’t working for you or if you sweat too much and need to refresh during class!cription
